Lauds security forces, police for effectively dealing with challenges

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 11 (KNO) : The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh Sunday lauded the services of security forces and police in effectively dealing with different challenges and defending the country. Dr Singh was addressing the closing ceremony of 66th B N Mullick Memorial All India Police football championship here at Gulshan grounds today. The function began with a colourful march past of 37 participating teams led by dare and devil team of Jammu and Kashmir Police. The Deputy Chief Minister while thanking the players and officials from different parts of the country said that their presence in the playing field together was a notable example of unity in diversity. While paying tributes to B N Mullick, Dr Singh said that he served the people when the country was going through a transitional phase. Later, Dr Singh and other dignitaries distributed trophies and mementoes among the participating teams and the officials and also released the souvenir of the championship. The 11-day football tournament saw a total of 84 matches played by players of 37 teams and 120 officials from all over the country. Director General of Police, Dr S.P Vaid, in his welcome address, lauded the efforts of the organizing committee for making elaborate arrangements for the teams and the staff. Highlighting the achievements of J&K Police the DGP said that 19th All India Band competition will be held in Srinagar this year in September. He said that J&K Police has been promoting sports in the state and is organizing various national and state level tournaments. He announced that J&K police will welcome a helping hand to those outstanding sportspersons of state who need any assistance in shape of exposure and advance training outside the State. Dr A.K Verma, Additional Director I.B, ADGP Armed A.K Choudhary, Chairperson PWWA, representative from All India Police Sports Control Board, senior police officials and other concerned were also present on the occasion.(KNO)
