JAMMU, FEBRUARY 14 (KNO) : Chairperson J&K State Social Welfare Board, Dr Nirmal Gupta, released the annual magazine of J&K SSWB in presence of Chairperson Women’s Commission, Nayeema Mahjoor, Vice Chairman Board for Welfare and Development of Pahari Speaking People, Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Vice Chairman Board for Development of OBC, Rashpal Sharma. On the occasion, Dr Nirmal Gupta highlighted the schemes and programmes being run by the Social Welfare Board. She stressed on effective implementation of National Crèche Scheme which provides day-care facilities for children of working mothers, improves nutrition and health status of children, promotes physical, cognitive, social and emotional development of children. She also dwelt on schemes like family Counseling Center which is the need of the hour in this era where the family structure is in transition from joint to nuclear putting an impact on the life style of the parents and the children, Swadhar Greh, a Scheme for destitute women. The Board intends to open one Swadhar Greh in each District to curb beggary among women and Children. The Board is also nominated as the implementing agency for Senior Citizen Act, under which every senior citizen, who has been left abandoned by his/her children, will have the right to claim the maintenance and allowance for his livelihood from his wards/children, she added. She further added that the Board is in the process of construction of a Composite Center for Senior Citizens where they will be facilitated with Day Care Center, canteen, mess, Short Stay Shelter Home and Pay and Stay Home. It will be the first of its kind in J&K where the Sr. Citizens shall be provided these kinds of facilities. Mahjoor also shared her views on the occasion and wished success to the Board in its endeavors. Kuldeep Raj Gupta also spoke about the activities of the Board.
