A local court here on Thursday granted the National Investigation Agency transit remand of five accused in LeT Naveed Jatt alias Abu Hunzullah's escape case.
The NIA has already taken over the investigations of the case and booked five locals— Tika Khan, Syed Tajamul Islam, Muhammad Shafi Wani, Shakeel Ahmad Bhat and Jan Muhammad Ganai—all from Pulwama district.
“The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar today granted a transit remand of two days to NIA for the five accused Shakeel Ahmed Bhat, Tika Khan, Syed Tajamul Islam, Md Shafi Wani and Jan Md
Ganai, all residents of Pulwama in case RC No 05/2018/NIA/DLI pertaining to the escape from custody of LeT (militant) Naveed Jutt from SMHS hospital where he was brought on 6th February for treatment,” the NIA said in a statement.
The accused will be produced before the NIA Special Court at Jammu on Friday for seeking police Custody, it said.
Two policemen—head Constable Mushtaq Ahmed and Constable Babar Ahmed— were killed in the attack by militants to free the Lashkar-e-Taiba commander from SMHS hospital where he was taken for check-up on February 6.
