A shutdown is being observed across Kashmir on Saturday against the killing of a Hurriyat (G) leader and deteriorating human rights situation in the Valley. Meanwhile, curbs were imposed by the authorities in downtown area of capital city Srinagar in wake of the shutdown call given by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL).
Contingents of paramilitary forces have been deployed at all entry and exit points of downtown Srinagar, while lanes and by lanes have been blocked by concertina wires to prevent people from taking out any protests. Pedestrian movement is allowed only after thorough frisking in downtown Srinagar.
