Kishtwar (KNO) : Kishtwar Police has clarified on the preventive detention of three Gujjar Youth who travelled upto Kishtwar yesterday to hold a press conference on the issue of "rape and murder of minor girl Asifa" of Hiranager Kathua. The news of preventive detention was circulated in the social media by some vested interests. The Kishtwar Police received an information reliably that a couple of youth, one resident of Gandoh area and other of village Kahra of District Doda have been instigated by some vested interests to visit Kishtwar town and hold a press conference on the issue of rape and murder of a minor girl of Hiranagar Kathua.

The Police verified the matter and it was found that the two young boys identified as one Mohd Owais S/o Noor Hussain R/o Sanwara Gundoh and Mohd Salim S/o Mohd Shafi R/o Bhatoli, Karah both of District Doda have reached Dak Banglow Kishtwar and started contacting the media persons to hold a press conference. On further verification, police recovered a few copies of the press note prepared by the duo for the press conference. On perusal of these press notes, police found that on one hand a lot of objectionable material was written against the present BJP- PDP coalition government and on the other hand many allegations were levelled against certain political outfits.

The publication of these statements and explosive material as in the press notes was sure to ignite the law and order problem in the district especially in Kishtwar town. The couple of youth mentioned above were later joined by another youth namely Mohd Mussa S/o Hussain Khan R/o Srawan, Keshwan Kishtwar. The police asked these youth as to what compelled them to travel such a long distance and reach Kishtwar to speak on an issue which pertains to district Kathua. The youth obviously failed to answer it as to who has guided them to flare up this sensitive issue from this place which has already seen a lot of disturbance on law and order count due to such types of statements and hypes.

The police therefore advised these youth to desist and abstain from flaring up this sensitive issue from this place by calling press persons. The youth however did not stop and asserted to proceed with their mission. The police smelling rat in the whole episode therefore produced all the three youth before the Magistrate 1st class Kishtwar under preventive provisions of law for further course of action. The Magistrate after obtaining assurance of good behaviour released the youth and advised them to go back to their places of residence in the district they have come from.(KNO)
