A Border Security Personnel (BSF) trooper was killed in a ‘sniper fire’ by Pakistan Rangers at Tanghdar sector along the Line of Control in north Kashmir Kupwara district on Tuesday evening. A senior police officer told news agency GNS that Pakistan Rangers in “violation of ceasefire” opened the sniper fire at 124 bn of BSF (under 104 Infantry Brigade) in Bijlidhar area of Tanghdar along the LoC.
A BSF soldier identified as SK Murmur sustained bullet wound in his stomach and was immediately shifted to nearby hospital for treatment where from he was referred and airlifted to army’s 92-base hospital at Badamibagh here, the officer said. The trooper, however, due to grave bullet wounds, succumbed to injuries in the military hospital. Meanwhile, a fresh ceasefire violation reported in Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. An official said that the Pakistani army initiated “unprovoked fire” upon Indian posts in Uri along the LoC around 5:20 pm.
The fire was retaliated strongly. When reports last came in the intermittent exchange of border clash was going on in the area.
