The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Thursday said that it has registered a case in connection with the militant attack on an army camp in Jammu, on the Home Ministry's direction. "In compliance with the MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs) order, the NIA has re-registered a case in the Sunjwan Army camp terror attack case," an NIA official said in New Delhi. The case has been registered for criminal conspiracy, waging war against the country, murder, and attempt to murder, under the Indian Penal Code.

The agency also registered the case under sections 7 and 27 of the Arms Act and sections 16 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. Pertinently, on 10 February, a group of heavily armed Jaish-e-Muhammad militants entered the Sunjwan Military Station in Jammu and Kashmir, after hurling grenades and using automatic gunfire.

Three militants, who managed to enter the Junior Commissioned Officer's residential quarters, were killed by the security forces. Six army personnel and one civilian were also killed and 11 others were injured.
