Horticulture Department organize awareness cum distribution programme at Karmulla Tral | KNO

Pulwama Feb 24  (KNO) : Horticulture Department Pulwama today organised one-day awareness cum distribution programme for local fruit growers at Karmulla village of Tral Pulwama. Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar, was the chief guest on the occasion, Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that Horticulture sector plays an important role in the State and contributes significantly to the State Economy and is a source of livelihood for thousands of people belonging to the district. DDC further said that the sector contributes immensely to strengthen the financial condition of the district , poverty alleviation, employment generation and is a core sector of agriculture.

The variety of horticultural products of the district has earned world-wide fame because of its good quality and taste. DDC said that Horticulture development is one of the thrust area for the government and a number of programmes are being implemented, resulting in the generation of higher incomes in the rural areas, thereby improving the quality of life in villages. He said administration is trying its best to develop this village as Apple Valley and urged Growers to make best use of technology. He stressed upon farmers to avail the maximum benefits of the government schemes for raising their standard of living.

He also assured them that all efforts would be made for the people of the area and that more and more programmes will be organized in future. Later on, different agricultural equipment’s including Spray Tub, Harvesting Create, Garden Rake , Budding Knife etc were distributed among the 252 families of area under establishment of model village at Karmullah. Besides the District Horticulture officer Pulwama .K. Kotwal , other concerned officers , hundreds of farmers of the area were present on the occasion.(KNO)
