DODA , FEB 26 (KNO) : A leopard that had strayed close to residential areas was captured at village Nallawah Ghat area of Doda .A team of the wildlife and forest department captured the wild animal at Nallawah locality in Gath area of the Doda district , officials said. “We received several complaints from the local residents about the presence of a leopard.
The animal was reportedly on prowl in Gath area since the last some months and had attacked cattle. It was trapped in a cage on late night ,” said CF Chenab circle T B Singh The captured animal would be transported to Kishtwar, from where it will be sent to Manda Zoo in Jammu, he added.He said in this season wild animals come close to residential areas in search of prey, adding that fields are open in this season so the chances of man-animal conflict remains.“If there is any wild animal presence near human dominated area, the authorities must be made aware so that these animals are trapped to avoid chances of damage in the area.
If in any area a leopard is found/declared man eater, we will kill him after a proper permission from the concerned authorities,” Singh said.(KNO)
