Traffic Police challans vehicles for various offences on Doda Bhaderwah road

BHADERWAH , FEB 28 (KNO) : Basant Rath effect started moving on killer roads of the state also as traffic cops today organized a programme on Doda Bhaderwah road to spread awareness of traffic rules among commuters and encourage safe driving. Traffic Police challaned 60 vehicles for over-loading and booked 12 other vehicles for offences like driving without licenses, using mobile phones while driving, not wearing crash helmets, triple riding, over speeding and not wearing seat belts in one day .

Dy SP Traffic Doda Kishtwar Zuhaib Hussain Patigaroo said on the direction of IG Traffic Police the drive against violations of traffic rules and regulations has been launched in all rural area of Doda , Bhaderwah and Kishtwar to enforce strict discipline on the roads.“As a part of ongoing special drive, all the field officers have been directed to pursue the policy of zero tolerance for the violators indulging in overloading and other offences of traffic violations,” he said. Dy SP Traffic Zuhaib Hussain Patigaroo also said that apart from law enforcement, traffic police would encourage people to follow traffic rules in letter and spirit.“We would make efforts to aware commuters about the importance of safe driving.

We organized a programme today to sensitize commuters,” Zuhaib said. He said that the objective of the campaign is to sensitize road users regarding the importance of first aid, safety-helmet, seat-belt, safe passage to hospital referrals and fire tenders on priority and to inculcate a sense of responsibility towards road accident trauma amongst commuters, pedestrian, vendors and other road users so that precious human lives are saved on way to hospitals.“For road safety we will engage students and youth to begin with. Road accidents are the biggest killer of young people worldwide,” he said.(KNO)
