Residents said that the forces have asked the people to come out of their homes so that searches are carried out. Government forces Wednesday late night launched cordon and search operation in Pastuna hamlet of Tral township in Pulwama district.
An official said that joint team of Jammu & Kashmir police, army's 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 180 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have launched the operation in the area following specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area. Residents said that the forces have asked the people to come out of their homes so that searches are carried out.
"The effective presence of the police and paramilitary forces have descended into the village.The forces have sealed all the entry and exit points as the operation is underway,"said a local. The security grid was in the process of installing lights in the adjacent fields when this report was being filed.
“We have installed lights, made other arrangements and tightened the cordon to ensure that militants don’t escape from the area,” a police official said. (GK)
