Kishtwar  (KNO) : The Kishtwar Police has today averted a major tragedy in which a person trapped in the huge rocks in landslide was saved harmlessly.

The Police received an information at Police Station Kishtwar that at Fagumarh village, which is 15 kilometres towards Thathri from Kishtwar, a person has been trapped in his Alto Car JK17-3648 under the huge rocks. The news of the trapping of youth spread into the whole area like wildfire.

The Police parties headed by SHO Police Station Kishtwar Inspector Sameer Jelani and Dy SP Headquarters Nihar Ranjan reached the spot. The Police took control of the area and procured the JCBs with professional drivers on both the sides. Keeping in view the sensitivity of the incident district Superintendent of Police Kishtwar Abrar Chowdhary also reached the spot and supervised the rescue operation.

The Red Cross team of the district headed by Asgar Ali Sheikh @ Bitta Sheikh also reached the spot. The Police used the JCBs very cautiously and after cutting and pushing the rocks few meters in length and many feet in width the trapped youth was rescued. He has been identified as Liaqat Ali S/o Ghulam Abass of Gurrien area of Kishtwar. The public highly appreciated the role of Police in averting the tragedy and miraculously saving the life of the youth. The Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar has advised the public that they should not undertake travel and journeys in odd weather and follow the advisories the police issues through social media and Police Control Room regarding the weather feasibility.(KNO)
