Doda Police launches plantation drive | KNO

DODA , MAR 03 (KNO) : A plantation drive was organised by Doda Police in the premises of district Police Lines Doda here today .SSP Doda Mohd Shabir was the Chief Guest on this occasion, who planted a sapling to inaugurate the programme. 50 saplings of different variety including Deodar , fruits and ornamental species were planted which were provided by forest department Chenab circle .

This environmental friendly initiative was conceived by SSP Doda with an aim to make the Police lines green. ASP Hqrs Doda Vinay Kumar, SP Ops Doda RP Singh, DySP DAR DPL Nazir Ahmed Ganai, DySP Hqrs Ifthkar Qureshi and SHO Doda Manjeet Singh was also present on this occasion.Speaking on the occasion,SSP Doda Mohd Shabir dwelt at length on the urgent need of protecting the atmosphere through plantation of trees.

He told emphatically that in view of the increasing threat to the planet earth as a result of extensive pollution, deforestation and disturbances to the Ozone layer, it becomes imperative to adhere to the guidelines circulated by various agencies concerned with the preservation of fauna and flora so that life on earth remains secure. Erosion of land and pollution of air due to receding plantation as well as man-made disasters pose a grave threat to the human life and it is time to resort to the preventive measures, massive plantation being one of these, added SSP .

He told in unequivocal terms that afforestation should be a mandatory subject if at all we have to keep society healthy and free from ailments.Global warming is a serious challenge that calls for collective effort world-wide, he asserted. Plantation of trees should be made a habit and all segments of society are required to contribute towards this. This initiative should be taken as a clarion call, he told, which should definitely generate a will for committed efforts to keep every premise green and clean. Recent instance of unending smog in NCR Delhi is an eye opener and unfolds the series of threat that the people can be confronted with in future, across the length and breadth of the country, said Mohd Shabir .

It is notable to mention here that CF Chenab circle T B Singh IFS from the last one year is donating free of cost Deodar saplings to various government departments for plantation drive and till day thousands of saplings were planted at Doda , Bhaderwah , Gundoh , Marmath , Ramban , Kishtwar and other hilly areas .(KNO)
