The J&K Civil Secretariat Employees, Coordination Committee on Friday went on indefinite strike on Saturday against non-seriousness of the government towards their demands.

Earlier in the day, an emergency meeting of the J&K Civil Secretariat Employees Coordination Committee was held under Chairmanship of Ghulam Rasool Mir, (Chairman, and Coordination Committee). Besides Maqbool Hussain President Lower Grade Employees Union, all office bearers and Executive Members also participated in the meeting. ‘During the Course of the meeting, it was observed that the Government is not serious to resolve the cadre review of the employees. While taking the overall view of the Governments stand it was noticed that the issues are being tossed from one corner to another only to kill the time,” Mir according to GNS said.

Though the Chief Minister, Mir said, had at times made the commitment for resolving the important issue of cadre review of all non-gazetted employees viz—GAD, Planning, Accounts and Legal Services for which the committee was constituted. They also demanded that there should be no illegal induction and promotion of Direct Recruits into KAS particularly 2008 batch against the slots meant for feeding Services (promotees) thereby diverting the quota, which is against the spirit of Supreme Court Judgment; “GAD (Services) is of the habit of raising un-necessary queries/observations while making promotions in feeding services thereby keeping the promotions of 2009 and 2010 hanging in balance since long,” he said.

Despite approval of the Chief Minister and followed by the concurrence of Finance Department, the recommendations of the Cadre Review Committee are being deferred deliberately thus forcing the employees on the path of confrontation/ agitation, Mir added.
