The strike in government Dental College and hospital entered day 7 today despite harsh weather. The strike is against the physical and mental harassment by the HOD Dr. Mohmmad Mushtaq on Post Graduate and Under Graduate students.

Despite informing the Principal/Dean and submitting a written complaint against the said HOD no action was taken against him for two and a half months. The admisntration has been further harassing students by forcing them to join back the department. The students peaceful protest against the authorities entered day 7 where in they shouted slogans and put banners in the College campus in front of principals office and continued their protest despite the rain & harsh weather conditions.

They stand by their demand of removal of Dr. Mohammad Mushtaq as the head of the Department and formation of a student union on same pattern as in other professional colleges . After worthy health minster’s intervention a two day enquiry has been initiated by the DDC Srinagar. The students are peacefully protesting and waiting for the final action by the worthy health minster.

The students have time and again emphasised that they are meritorious and belong to humble background and that the College administration is sleeping over the matter for past 2 and a half months. Their final faith is rested upon the health minster for a fair enquiry so that their faith in the system is strengthened.

The strike is being supported by all the organisations of the state like Doctors association Kashmir, JKDCC, DSA-J & K. Students of Indira Gandhi Government Dental College also condemned the harassment of students and requested worthy health minister to deliver justice to the aggrieved students.(KNO)
