Srinagar, 16 March (KNO) : Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) president Dr Suhail Naik expressed concern over the ongoing strike by students of Government Dental College(GDC) Srinagar, who are protesting for their genuine demands from last two weeks.
The strike has not only paralysed the functioning of the Dental College for more than 10 days, but has also dented the learning and research of medical scholars. “We are dismayed over poor response of Government in addressing the genuine demands of protesting Dental surgeons and it is matter of grave concern that academic year of Dental scholars is at stake” said Dr Suhail Naik.
“It is high time that university authorities should find out an amicable solution to end the deadlock in the larger interest of students,” he said. DAK urges the academicians to create friendly environment with research scholars and not to consider them as their domestic helps. This type of abnormal behavior inherited by some guides has ruined the quality research in Valley. Dr Naik appealed to the Hon’ble governor-cum-chancellor Shri N N Vohra to intervene in this matter as he is highest body to look after academics in State .
Meanwhile government must select a full time permanent principal for said College after framing an empowered selection committee on war footing basis. (KNO)
