KUPWARA, MARCH 18 (KNO) : Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq Khan said the government is forcefully pursuing the proposal to connect Kupwara district with the railway and national highway status to Kupwara road besides making it four-lane. He said this while interacting with the people at various places in Kupwara including Chandigam and Devar in during Public outreach program on third consecutive day.

Minister is on visit to the district to reach out to the people at their doorstep. Abdul Haq said that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is keen to see extension of railway up to Kupwara and for the same she has already taken up the issue with Union Railway Minister at various occasions and the project will see the light of the day very soon. The Minister further stated that efforts are also on for widening Kupwara road making it four-lane besides giving it the national highway status keeping in view its strategic importance.

Abdul Haq said that Chief Minister is get these projects executed at earliest to bring Kupwara district at the forefront. He said these developmental projects will give flip to the developmental activities and will improve the socio-economic status of this district. He said tourism will also get a boost as there will be easy access to various tourist destinations including Bangus valley, Lolab Valley, Kalaroos caves and many other spots of tourist attractions. The Minister said the in recent past, government inaugurated as many as 100 bridges, roads and culverts in the district thus increasing the rural connectivity for the benefit of the people. He said several other developmental initiatives are in pipeline on developmental front to ensure all-round transformation of the developmental landscape of Kupwara district.(KNO)
