Residents Of Nalabal Nowshehra Demands Clean Of Khushall Sar Lake | KNO

Srinagar (KNO) :  Residents Of Nalabal Nowshera area of Downtown Srinagar staged protest at Nalbal Srinagar at around 12:30 Pm while the residents of the locality blocked Nowshera bridge and halt traffic movement for hours as they also burnt tyres on road protesters are also shouting slogans we want justice and fulfill our demands they also raised slogans against Lawda Department, State Government and Central Government protesters also hold pla cards on which they wrote Deaf Government hi hi.

While taking with Abdul Rashid President of the said area told KNO that the Khushaal sar lake has been made dumping ground for the weed removed fro the Dal Lake Srinagar he also said presence of heaps of weed dumped in the wetland causes a pungent stench in the vicinity causing inconvenience to the locals. He also said that we are going to the concerned departments sonce 2016 but none of them cared as we went Irrigation Office, Lawda Department they assured us that time we will look into the matter and your problem will be solved soon but unfortunately till now our genuine demand is still in their dustbins. Later we went Dc office were we meant Deputy Commissioner Srinagar and raised our problems with him as same he also said that I will visit on site but till now he did not came here we also meant Divsional commissioner of Kashmir and same time he wrote the letter on VC Lawda to look into the matter and solve the problem of the inhabitants of the said locality but since last one yaer none of the department taked any action against it we have all proof of all concerned departments were we went since 2016 said Abdul Rashid. He also said that the practice of dumping the weed removed from Dal Lake into the Khushall Sar Lake started in 2014 after flood hit the valley.

Khushaal Sar Lake is also demarcated from Gill Sar, another water body, near Gill Kadal it was used once stretch up to Zoonimar, Alikadal and was connected with Anchar Lake said Ab Rashid.While talking with other local who was also the part of the protest Shabir Ahmad told KNO that we are doing protest here because our lakes who got connected through channels with each other you can see how much wasted products are in it the garbage of whole Kashmir I think they have dumped in the center of the Khushaal sar lake. We all the residents of Soura and Nowshera today came on streets to awake the Lawda Department, Concerned Departments and Government who are in deep sleep since 2016. We only demand that clean our Anchaar Lake and Khushaal sar lake and save water bodies and environment said Shabir Ahmad.

He also said that once potable water from Khushall Sar Lake used to be consumed by the locals. We are in complete disbelief regarding the current situation of Khushall Sar Lake people who are living nearby mosque in our area was used the water of Khushall Sar Lake for ablution but see today heaps of weed in alke is proving to be a menace as we cant even go clos to it due to the stench, said Shabir Ahmad. Some other locals said that Khushall Sar Lake is located between Hawal And Zadibal has squeezed to half size due to the deep Sleep of Authorities. They also demanded immediate cleaning of the water body. Khushall Sar Lake used to be 20-feet deep once but today due to the negligence of the concerned authorities it is just like a garbage dump. We keep our windows closed to stay away from the stench said locals.
