Kashmir summer will be good this year : DGP | KNO

Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief SP Vaid on Thursday said that summer in Kashmir this year will be ‘good’. Responding to a question on how he sees situation amid higher possibilities of infiltration along LoC lesser amount of snowfall in the hinterland, the Director General of Police said:

“Our forces are alert and they will not allow situation deteriorate. This year summer in Kashmir will be good.” To another question on how the police were looking at the trend of youth joining militant ranks in Kashmir, the DGP Vaid said “now very few join” militants. “They are trying to mislead youth. From last year, there is a lot of change and hope youth will choose the right path. They should serve their life for themselves and their families,” he told reporters after visiting the family of Mohammad Yousuf (SPO), one of the two policemen killed along with three army soldiers in a fierce two-day long encounter at Halmatpora in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.

To a question whether government job will be provided to any family member of the slain SPO, the top police officer according to said: “When a (policeman) becomes a martyr, his son becomes entitled to the job under SRO. One of his sons is highly qualified and I will try to talk to J&K bank chairman through Chief Mehbooba minister for appointment in J&K bank”. The DGP was flanked by IGP Kashmir SP Pani and other police officers during his visit to Kachhama, the native place Mohammad Yousuf, of the two SOG personnel killed the encounter along with Deepak Thusoo o Nagrota Jammu. Mohammad Yousuf is survived by aged parents, three sons and two minor daughters, the youngest being five-years-old. “Jammu and Kashmir police stand with the families of these martyrs in this crucial time and as a family, we pay our rich tributes to the martyrs,” a spokesman of police said in a statement issued here.
