Students Of Dental Collage 'Suspended Strike' On The Assurance Of 'Div Com' | KNO

Srinagar (KNO) Students of Dental College Srinagar who was on strike from lastmore then one month against the institute’s Principal who has been accused of harassing students, forcing them to do his personal works. Students also alleged that the HOD is physically and mentally torturing the students.

After two months of strike the students of dental college met with DIV Com Srinagar Mr Basheer Khan who assured them that all of your legal demands will be fulfilled. While talking with Dr Rameez he told KNO that ‘’On the directions and assurance of Worthy Divisional Commissioner Kashmir that all our grievances will be addressed and academics will be streamlined, we are suspending the strike.

Our protest will continue until the government issues an order to appoint permanent academic in charge of the Orthodontics department in place of Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq,” said Dr Rameez. Other students union of the Government Dental College and Hospital (GDCH) Srinagar has hailed the decision of the Divisional Commissioner Srinagar for taking that step as till now no one came forward to us.

However, the students union has demanded that Government should issue a formal order to appoint a permanent academic in charge/guide for both undergraduate and postgraduate students of the orthodontics department.“In the interest of the GDCH administration and academics, we demand government should make a permanent arrangement for the post of Principal,” he said. The inaction on part of the Principal forced us to go for the strike, he said.
