BHADERWAH,MAR 24 (KNO) : Youth Action Committee , Bhaderwah on Saturday held a protest demonstration outside the Sub District Hospital against the vacant post of doctors especially gynecologist .

They alleged that they are facing immense hardships due to the lack of doctors in the hospital and said one week back Director Health Services , Jammu transferred a gynecologist from Doda to Bhaderwah but some vested interested people are not allowing her to join SDH .

They locked the door of the hospital and shouted slogans against state government and said, “If there is no one to take care of the people, then what is the fun of putting the hospital open.Sub District Hospital , Bhaderwah in Doda district is without a gynecologist, resulting in immense problems to the female patients here, said Naseer Mehboob Padder president YAC .

He said there are just half dozen doctors available at Bhaderwah hospital but without any regular gynecologist. The lack of gynecologist has severely compromised the patient care at hospital . The female patients of the area recount how they return upset every time they visit the hospital with a gynecological problem.Sheikh Mustaq Ahmed general secretary, said that they are forced to take expecting mothers to Doda for treatment which is almost 35 kilometers from main Bhaderwah town . “The SDH is merely meant to avoid patients even in emergency situations by referring them to Doda or some other hospitals in Srinagar or Jammu .

The patients referred reach in critical condition, many women gave birth to babies on way to other hospitals ,” he said.Youth leader Nasir Shah questioned the motive of having SDH building when it lacks doctors and medical important equipments . “What for is the hospital if it doesn’t help us any way? Even basic blood bank is also available here,” he questioned.

The hospital has no manpower to handle serious patients particularly delivery cases. Due to dearth of doctors in the hospital, everyday almost 5 to 6 cases are referred to district hospital Doda , where from some patients are even referred to Jammu hospitals for specialized treatment.Locals accused successive regimes for ignoring the health centre of the area which caters to thousands of people. They said that a large number of patients visit the hospital and leave the hospital premises hopeless as there are no doctors to take care of them,” the alleged.Mohan Singh , Mohd Hussain , Pardesi Khan , Zaffar Butt and other were also present on the occasion .

Later they submitted a memorandum to DDC Doda through Block Medical Officer Bhaderwah Dr Yudvir Kotwal demanded immediate filling of post of gynecologist in hospital and threatened agitation if there demand was not fulfilled .
