Hurriyat (M) meets, reiterates appeal to India, Pak to resolve Kashmir | KNO

Srinagar, Mar 24 (KNO) : A meeting of APHC chaired by senior executive council member Prof Abdul Gani Butt was held at Hurriyat headquarters Rajbagh.

Senior representatives of various constituents of Hurriyat participated in the meeting. The meeting discussed the present political situation in the backdrop of changing geo political scenario and stressed on the leadership of India and Pakistan to secure the future of billions of people of South Asia by taking concrete steps to resolve the vexed Kashmir issue. It was stated that the lingering Kashmir issue was the main reason that the two nuclear powers were at loggerheads and the cause of the present instability in the South Asian region.

While taking further the earlier decision of the Executive Council with regard to making the forum more vibrant active, the meeting deliberated and decided to take certain steps in this direction. The meeting paid tributes to journalist, poet and author Maqbool Sahil who passed away recently and stated that Sahil was a bold and forthright journalist besides being a well known poet and author who left behind a literary treasure for Kashmir. The participants offered special prayers for Sahil. The meeting also paid tributes to two armed youth killed in an encounter at Sheshtergam, Kulgam stating that youth are sacrificing their lives for a genuine cause.

The meeting stated that it was time for the leadership and people of Kashmir to remain steadfast with the movement so as to achieve the goal. The meeting while strongly condemning the frequent CASOs in south Kashmir villages termed it as an open state terrorism and said that harassment, arrests and torture of youth by the forces has become a routine in these areas. The meeting also took a dig at the ruling dispensation for its anti people policies stating that people of Kashmir have been left at the mercy of forces and those in government for petty interests are inflicting endless miseries and pain on innocent Kashmiris. The meeting condemned the frequent detention of APHC leader Mukhtar Ahmed Waza in police station Sheerbagh terming it as a political vendetta.(KNO)
