Govt offices open in Nowshera, situation under control | KNO

JAMMU, MARCH 26 (KNO) : District Administration today convened meeting with the Joint Action Committee at Nowshera and also conducted inspection of town and Government offices to review the situation.

The Government offices including Addl DC, ExEn PHE, ExEn PWD, ExEn Irrigation / Flood Control, Tehsildar, DFO, BDO, Treasury, sub-divisions of various departments, schools and colleges remained open today and started functioning normally. Road traffic also plied normally . Markets in peripheral areas remained open today and life returned towards normalcy. In outskirts of Nowshera town various establishments opened however the main market of town remain closed.

A brief assembly of around 100 people raised slogans at Patel Chowk demanding post of ADDC and police lines however later they dispersed. Public from most of rural areas did not turn up for the scheduled rally. Deputy Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, SSP Yougal Manhas, ADC Abdul Sattar along with senior officers of administration visited Thakur Dwara and had meeting with the head priest as well as the Joint Action Committee. Swami Shri Mahamandleshwar Santosh Dass Mohni Ji also appealed the JAC to suspend the strike and further take up demands with the State Government. The DC along with SSP, ADC, Addl SP and other officers also visited the residence of Jaswinder Singh S/O Jaswant Singh at Nonial who was injured during clashes between protestors and security forces.

On behalf of State Government an amount of Rs 1.00 Lakh as immediate assistance to family was handed over for treatment of the injured. Overall situation in the town remained normal.(KNO)
