ICDS DEPARTMENT PULWAMA CELEBRATES ANNUAL AWARD CEREMONY ON ON BBBP | KNO

PULWAMA, March 28, 2018 (KNO) : ICDS department Pulwama today organised an annual award ceremony under the banner of “BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO at Circuit House Pulwama.  

DDC Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The function was attended by ADC Pulwama/Tral, District Programme Officer ICDS Pulwama, DSWO Pulwama,  BMO Pulwama/Rajpora/Tral/Pampore and other officials from various departments. Highlighting the calendar of activities which were under taken under BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO, District Programme Officer ICDS Mohd Ahsan Mir said that a variety of activities were taken during the last year to send a message across the district regarding the importance of girl child in the society.

The activities among others included celebration of girl child on every month, Girl Birth Celebrations, mass media compaign such as Sloganeering, Trana reciting, wall painting, Gudda-Guddi Board , Enforcemenmt of PC&PNDT Act, Empowerment of girl such as celebration of girl admission in schools, felicitation of meritorious girls etc.

The annual activities were compiled  into a booklet under the title “MUNNI-MAHAAN”which was relaesed on the occasion by the DDC Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar. A short documentary on BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO was also released on the occasion by the chief Guest.

Addressing the large gathering on the occasion,DDC Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar appreciated the ICDS department for furthering the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao movement. He said there is no question of discrimination based on gender. DDC stressed on the importance of girls getting access to quality education, just like boys. Emphasizing that a daughter is not a burden, he said girls are bringing pride and glory for the district, and excelling in several fields.

He said that Beti Bachao Beti Padhao should be run in the form of a Jan Andolan to make it  a success on the ground. Dar said that with continuous and persistent efforts, the attitude of the society towards the girl child has shown a clear cut change.   Later on the DDC awarded different field functionaries who had played  significant role in making  Beti Bachao Beti Padao programme a huge success in the district. Among others who were awarded on the occasion were DDC Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar  and ADC Pulwama  Showkat Ah Rather who were awarded under the category of Proud Father. Best reporting  award was given to Dr Mohammad Zubair Lattoo District Information Officer Pulwama for giving wide and extensive coverage to  the BBBP.
