Kupwara 29 March (KNO) : Urging youth not to forget that getting quality and moral education has to be their primary ambition, AIP Supremo and MLA Langate, Er. Rasheed has said that sports activities should be limited for a certain period in and within educational institutions.

While addressing at a sports event at Batergam Kupwara today, Er. Rasheed said “Students have every right to become part of sports activities but it is being observed that day by day student are focusing more on co curricular activities and lesser on education, which should be a matter of great concern. While there is no dearth of talent in J&K despite volatile situation, Govt. is not doing enough to ensure children a quality education. Most of the schools lack staff, infrastructure, toilet facilities, sanitation and drinking water facilities.

It should have been priority for any Govt. to spend the major allocation of its budget on improving education sector but unfortunately the useless schemes like midday meals and extra co-curricular activities have hampered and paralyzed the education system. For the want of accountability, the schools and Hr. Secondary’s in remote areas have been left to the mercy of God and govt. seems to be less interested in increasing the standard and level of competition among students especially in Govt. schools”.

Er. Rasheed reiterated that it should be made compulsory for teachers, Govt. employees and public representatives to enroll their children in Govt. schools. He said “To wake up the conscience of those who matter it is necessary that future of their own children is affiliated to government schools. Unless and until it is not done the bureaucrats and public representatives will never show the desired interest in bringing J&K on the international map with respect to education. Unfortunately barring some exceptions most of the teachers working in Govt. Schools have been dishonest to their profession and shamelessly their children are studying in private schools, where teachers are much lesser qualified than these teachers working in Govt. schools”.(KNO)
