Seminar on Women Law and Justice held in Baramulla | KNO

Srinagar, March 30 (KNO) : A seminar on Women Law and Justice was held with the aegis of Baramulla Police in the University of Kashmir, North Campus Delina, Baramulla in collaboration with Excel Events, Black Line Productions, Creative Circle Baramulla and some other volunteer groups.

A young budding event manager of Baramulla Tabia Ashraf Khan of Excel Events had organized the event and Advocate Sajad Ahmad moderated the programme. Girl students of North Campus Kashmir University, Women College Baramulla and Girls Higher Secondary Schools Baramulla participated in the event. An array of speakers including lawyers, academicians and other stake holders gave detailed presentations to spread the awareness among the participants.

All those who spoke on the occasion underlined the need of making our women aware about legal rights available to them against all kinds of harassments and need to bring it into the notice of law enforcement agencies. Dr Amin Tantary of North Campus underscored the need of such conversations among all stake holders.
Advocate Nilofar Masood and Advocate Irfan Hafiz Lone gave a detailed account about constitutional and legal rights available to Women.

Mr. Owais Nanda, Director Creative Circle Baramulla emphasized the need of implementing laws by law enforcement agencies in letter and sprit.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Sopore Ms Masarat Roohi who was guest of honor on the occasion asked the participant girl students and ladies to come forward with their grievances regarding domestic violence, stalking, Eve teasing, dowry etc, 
as there are sufficient safeguards available in law to redress their problems. DIG North Kashmir Dr Sunil Gupta, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, assured all kind of help from J&K Police to women who are in distress or being harassed. He asked them speak out and come forward and report the matters to police as there are enough channels of communications available like Facebook pages, Twitter, Whatsapp, Dial 100 service, JKP Women Safety App etc. Various media organizations of Baramulla had also extended their support for the said event.(KNO)
