SRINAGAR March 31 (KNO) : Aganwadi Workers and Helpers Union Saturday demanded regularization of their services and release of their wages pending for last none months.
President Anganwari Workers and Helpers Union Tanveera Khalid said that Anganwari Workers/Helpers are working since 1975 under ICDS Scheme are getting meagre wages of Rs 3,600 and Rs 1,800 per month respectively. Neither any pension scheme is available nor has government awarded anything for our services.
General Secretary of the Union, Jammela Sabri said that they should be paid at par with Delhi State where workers and helpers are getting Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. She said that J&K Government should without any further delay agree to this demand. Last year the government while presenting the Budget had declared enhancement of Rs 500 in our honorarium but the order was never implemented.
Government makes tall claims when it comes to the welfare of the women but the reality is that injustice is being done with us. We have contributed in making the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) viable in the state but we have been pushed to the wall and the state government seems to be insensitive towards our genuine demands.
The government has failed to address our long pending and legitimate grievances, she said. “Social security benefits including promotion, gratuity, pension, provident fund, medical facilities, etc., should be provided to all Anganwari workers and helpers,” she demanded.(KNO)
