Govt creating infra to promote youth participation in sports activities : Ansari | KNO

JAMMU, APRIL 04 (KNO) : Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari today said that the focus of present dispensation is to maintain existing sports infra, especially play fields and develop new ones, besides promoting variety in sporting activities among youth in the state.

Ansari said this while reviewing the progress on construction of Basohli stadium being developed to provide infrastructure to sports aspirants in the area besides assessing progress on development of water sports infrastructure at Ranjit Sagar Dam under PMDP. Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh, besides Commissioner Secretary, Technical Education and YSS, Hilal Ahmad Parray, DG YSS, SheikhFayaz Ahmad and representatives of J&K Sports Council were present on the occasion. Ansari directed the officers to work in a coordinated manner to expedite the developmental work on Basohli stadium and to issue tender at earliest for landfilling and chain link fencing of the stadium.

It was informed in the meeting that work on the Basohli ground is being executed at a fast pace and the stadium will soon be thrown open for sports lovers of the area. For creation of office block, food court, conference hall, change rooms and other procurements at the Stadium, the Minister directed the concerned officers to make a team to visit the site and identify place for developing these facilities. He further directed for preparing DPR for the stadium at the earliest to avoid any delays in the project.

The Minister was informed that work is apace on the identified water spaces and the work is going on swiftly and the same will be thrown open soon for water sports lovers. To meet the demands of sports aspirants in the state, Choudhary Lal Singh said that besides other sports activities in the state, the government is committed to providing maximum sports facilities to young people of the state and directed officers to expeditiously finish all the executing projects in the state.(KNO)
