Forces launch cordon, searches in Kupwara village | KNO

Government forces on Friday launched a cordon-and-search operation at Juktiyal area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Official sources told that a joint team of army’s 41 RR and SOG cordoned off the Juktiyal forest area which also has villages adjacent to it. Sources said that two militants who escaped from woods of Haihama are believed to be trapped in the area.

SSP Kupwara Shamsheer Hussain told  that searches have been started following inputs about the presence of militants. The search operation is going on, SSP said. Five militants, three army soldiers, and two SOG personnel were killed in the two-day long encounter that started on March 20 at Check Fateh Khan area of Haihama forests. (
