Srinagar, April 21 (KNO) : Observing that women are equal stakeholders in the nation building and peace process, newly appointment women wing president of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Safina Beig today called upon womenfolk to work assiduously for restoring lasting peace in J&K. She said that peace is imperative for socio-economic growth of every section of the society.

Addressing maiden meeting of Women wing at Srinagar, which was attended by legislators, district president, office bearers and workers, she expressed her gratitude towards party leadership in general and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in particular for giving her the responsibility as women wing president. “I assure my leadership that I will work with dedication and commitment, with my full potential, to come up to the expectations of the party”, she said and added its vision of our Chief Minister that women are equal stakeholders in peace and nation building initiatives. “Women are the worst victim of conflict and turmoil so their participation and role is more important in the process to establish sustainable peace”, she observed and exuded confidence that under the dynamic leadership of Mehbooba Mufti lasting peace would be established in this region.

“We have to carry forward Chief Minister’s agenda of peace and development across the state”, she exhorted party workers, adding, “Being workers of PDP it is our responsibility to frustrate designs of those forces which are hell bent to create disturbance in the State by raking up emotion of the people”. She further cautioned that forces inimical to the peace are frustrated due to revolutionary and pro-people steps being initiated by the coalition government headed by Mehbooba Mufti. Calling upon party workers to spread message of PDP at the grass root level, Safina Beig said that agenda of the party was formulated by accommodating wishes and aspirations of all sections of the society and need of the hour is to educate the people about revolutionary policies of the party.

She said that PDP’s policies are focused on women in particular as the party has formulated a comprehensive programme for the socio-economic growth of the women of the State. Safina Beig further announced that constituency wise conventions would be held very soon in all parts of the state in which genuine concerns of the womenfolk would be addressed. She said that genuine grievances of women would be brought to the notice of Chief Minister.
