Amitabh Mattoo for adopting joyful learning methods in schools | KNO

JAMMU, APRIL 25 (KNO) : Emphasizing the importance of making education system more process driven, Advisor to Chief Minister Prof Amitabh Mattoo today said that learning outcomes and rankings should not be the only parameters to judge the quality of education and stressed on adopting innovative methods for developing joyful learning and creativity in students.

He said this while interacting with students and teachers at Jodhamal Pubic School after distributing Rai Bahadur JodhamalKuthiala scholarship among the meritorious students. The scholarships of Rs 10,000 each were given to meritorious Class XI girl students studying in government schools in borders areas of Jammu province. Eight girls each from the border areas of Jammu, Samba, Poonch, Kathua and Rajouri were given the scholarships. Stressing on reviving the philanthropic traditions of the state for augmenting the education sector, Prof Mattoo said that it is important that we all contribute our bit to bring about a positive impact in the education sector by providing our children the best of education and facilities.

He appreciated the gesture of providing scholarships to the girls from remote border areas. Prof Mattoo said that we have to come up with a system where schooling and learning is a pleasant experience for a child which nurtures his creativity and leads to holistic development. In this regard, citing the contributions of Haji Public School situated in remote village of Breswana in Doda, Prof Mattoo said that the institution is a positive example that how a small step can bring about a big impact in lives of children.

While hailing Sabbah Haji for serving the community by giving them quality education in a remote village in Doda, Prof Mattoo called upon the officers, educationists, volunteers to contribute their bit for growth and development of the Sabbah Haji’s school in terms of education, ideas and infrastructural. He announced that he shall personally provide Rs 1 lakh to any teacher who volunteers to work and contribute in Haji Public School which he said shall be a learning experience for teachers also.

The Jodhamal School has also adopted three government schools viz. Government High School Deli, Government Primary School Sainik Colony and Government Primary School Prithvipur. The Jodhamal School has donated books for libraries and furniture to these schools for the welfare of the students.

On the occasion, scintillating cultural programmes were presented by the students of government schools and Jodhamal Public School. Secretary School Education Farooq Ahmed Shah, Joint Director Education Charandeep Singh, Chief Education officers of Jammu and Samba, Trustee Jodhamal School Nandan Kuthiala, Principal Jodhampul School besides students, staff and teachers of various schools were also present on the occasion.
