Civilian killed in Anantnag militant attack | KNO

A civilian was killed after militants opened fire on Government Forces in Anantnag district of South Kashmir. Reports said that militants targeted Road Opening Party of CRPF on Pahalgam-Anantnag road near Lazibal. The gunshots created panic in busy town.

Witnesses said that CRPF retaliated and the exchange of fire continued for some time. A civilian identified as Shafaq Ahmed from Shopian district suffered injuries who was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A police official said that the wounded civilian succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. He identified the deceased youth as Shafaq Shabir, a BSc 2nd year student of Hergam Shopian. He added that a search operation was launched after the attack; however, no arrests were made.
