Man kills leopard to save his children in Kupwara village | KNO

In an act of real bravery, a man saved his children and other members of the family from a man-eater leopard whom he finally killed in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.

In the process, the man identified Ghulam Ahmad Sheikh suffered grave injuries and has been shifted to Srinagar for specialized treatment. Local reports said that the wild beast entered the house of Ghulam Ahmad Sheikh at Mir Muqam area of Awoora at around 5:00 am on Friday and tried to attack his children who were sleeping.

Sheikh, caught hold of the leopard and fought bravely with it and finally killed him. The hue and cry attracted the attention of the other neighbours and villagers who reached the spot and some of them later removed him to sub-district hospital Kupwara from where Sheikh was shifted to Srinagar for specialized treatment.

Sheikh according to locals has suffered serious injuries mainly on his right arm. A police officer when contacted told that a team has been rushed to the spot while officials of the wildlife have been contacted to take the leopard's carcass.
