Government forces on Tuesday started a cordon-and-search-operation in Shahgund area of Hajin in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district following a brief exchange of fire with the militants.
According to local sources, army men travelling in a civilian vehicle were fired upon by the militants near Rahimgund mohalla of Shahgund drawing retaliation from the army. However after a brief exchange of fire, the militants managed to escape, following which a massive search operation was launched, sources said.
Following the exchange of fire, mobile internet service has been snapped in the area and an instant shutdown was triggered. Further details are awaited.
