Srinagar April 6 (KNO) :  Inview of unabated civilian killings in Shopian and elsewhere in the valley, the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today cancelled the Secretariat Gherao Programme scheduled to be held tomorrow on the opening day of Secretariat in Srinagar citing the reason as unabated civilian killings in Shopian and elsewhere in Valley.

The Party strongly condemned civilian killings and urged that killing of civilians must stop in the larger interest of peace and stability. Expressing profound grief and sorrow over the civilian killings, the President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) G.A. Mir strongly condemned civilian Killings in Shopian and described it as highly unfortunate and painful, saying that the unabated civilian killings will remain the cause behind deteriorating situation, besides vitiating atmosphere in valley.

He described the current situation as fall out of wrong policies adopted by both State and Centre Govt, saying that Centre lacks any Kashmir Policy, which is responsible for extremely volatile situation in the valley, he added and said the loss of lives have deeply hurt the emotions of people in valley.
