Abolition of Stamp duty historic step towards women empowerment : Safina Baig | KNO

Jammu, May 12 (KNO) : Women an equal stakeholders in the nation building and peace process, Peoples Democratic Party (JKPDP) Women’s wing president Mrs Safina Baig has called upon to work assiduously for restoration of peace in the state and work for over all development in all the regions.

Expressing gratitude to the gathering of workers who had come to welcome her here in Jammu today she assured to work with dedication and commitment to carry forward the mission and vision of the party at gross root level. On this occasion senior party leaders including, Jatinder Bhat,Secretary; Mrs Surjeet Kour; Hussain Ali Wafa;

Th Falail Singh; Amreek Singh Reen; Bushan Lal Dogra; Ab Rashid Malik; Satpal Singh Charak, District Presidents, Faqir Chand Baghat; Rajinder Singh Manhas; Gurmeet Kour Pandey; Capt. Anil Gour; Varinder Singh Sonu; Geeta Thakur; R K Bali; Sunil Bhat; Parvez Khan; Balbir Singh; Vijaya Raina, Mahafooz Akhter; Bana Devi; Sandiya Mehta; Renu Khajuria; Kavita Sharma; Kiran Kachroo; Anita Devi; Basni Lal, besides other party leaders were present and spoke to the gathering. She said that PDP’s policies are focused on women in particular as the party has formulated a comprehensive programme for the socio-economic growth of the women of the State.

While commending the vision of Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti towards the women empowerment Mrs Baig said that recent major step in this direction, the government under her able leadership had abolished stamp duty on the properties being registered in the name of female members of the family and this move is entirely aimed at encouragement of women to own the properties in the restive Jammu and Kashmir.

Expressing happiness she hoped that this initiative will encourage families to register their properties in the name of their sisters, daughters, wives & mothers. Women, as of now own bare minimum immovable assets even after contributing the maximum to our society, Terming party workers as ambassadors of peace Mrs Baig exhorted upon the party workers to carry forward the policy and vision of Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. She said that as party workers it is our responsibility to frustrate designs of those forces which are hell bent to create disturbance in the State by raking up emotion of the people”. She further cautioned that forces inimical to the peace are frustrated due to revolutionary and pro-people steps being initiated by the coalition government headed by Mehbooba Mufti.

Calling upon party workers to spread message of PDP at the grass root level, Safina Beig said that agenda of the party was formulated by accommodating wishes and aspirations of all sections of the society and need of the hour is to educate the people about revolutionary policies of the party. Addressing the gathering to welcome Mrs Baig, party General Secretary Ved Mahajan urged upon the women of state to come forward and play an active role in rebuilding Jammu and Kashmir into a prosperous and tranquil state, Ved said that it is the high time for women of State to stand up united to be counted on the sides of justice and empowerment.

He added that it is a fact acknowledged by all across the globe that a woman brings a stream of compassion into a cesspool of hatred and animosity. Ved maintained further that the women have been the worst sufferers of the turmoil and the PDP is approaching them to ensure their active and earnest participation in the peace process. He hoped that under Mrs Baig’s able leadership this important lot besides party will usher a new era of development and empowerment. Chief Coordinator Ch Abdul Hamid while speaking on this occasion said that for all humans across the world, a woman is the first teacher, guide, and inspiration. She is the one who builds nations with her invincible will and selfless courage. He said it is the PDP’s core agenda to accord women of the state a vital role in transforming the society into a hub of tranquility and peace.

Speaking on this occasion VC Women’s Development Corporation Mrs Vijaya Dogra reiterated party’s pledge to get women empowered and provide them new avenues for life and new reasons to dream. It is an earnest attempt by the party in general and by the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, in particular, to establish the incorruptible and unbreakable contact between the women of the state and the PDP. We are sure that our joint earnest efforts will help up to steer the ship to the shore and we shall witness a new dawn of felicity and impeccable desire to rebuild the state once again,” she said.
