Geelani, DeM condemns arrest spree in Kashmir | KNO

Srinagar, May 16, 2018 (KNO) :  Syed Ali Geelani while decrying the current wave of killing, arrests and atrocities perpetrated by authorities and their forces, said that state authorities while trespassing all ethics don’t even consider the sanctity of Month of Ramadan. Geelani condemned the detention of resistance leaders and said that it is extremely unwise to deny political space and muzzle genuine voices.

Blaming ruling elite for creating chaos in state, Syed Ali Geelani said that disputed region has been turned into a police state and butcher house, where people are killed mercilessly and detained against frivolous charges. Strongly criticizing state authorities, Geelani said on schedule visit of Indian premier, authorities while laying undue curbs on civilians, have turned state into an armed garrison. Blaming pro-Indian politicians for following RSS agenda, Geelani said that people and particularly youth are being detained and there seems no let-up in killing and harassment of civilians in state.

Syed Ali Geelani expressed his serious concern over fresh arrest spree, harassment of peaceful civilians and humiliation during crackdowns. While blaming authorities for evolving explosive situations in state and high handedness against peaceful citizens, Geelani said that police in night raids are ransacking properties and humiliating inmates. Syed Ali Geelani said that the mammoth participation of people in funerals of martyrs funeral are glaring example of commitment and affiliation of people with freedom movement and serve a message for occupiers that oppressive measures won’t break our will or resolve.

Referring to detention of arrest of Jamat e Islami leader Bashir Ahmad Lone and TeH district president ,Mohd Rafiq Owasi, Geelani said that authorities are suffering from “arrogance and frustration” saying that both these leaders were detained for their participations in funerals of slain professor Mohd Rafi. Syed Ali Geelani expressed his anguish over the increasing chaotic situation in state and said that Indian politicians and their henchmen in state are responsible for bloodshed. Geelani decried authorities for detaining Manzoor Ahmad Khan, saying he is languishing in jail since past twelve years and authorities despite his ailing mother are reluctant to release him. Geelani strongly condemned the unjustified detention of sr advocate Bashir Bukhari, saying authorities while trampling all ethics and norms have unleashed a fresh arrest spree and crackdown against youth in Sopore, Shopian, Kulgam,.

Islamabad, Bandipora, Srinagar, Budgam and nook and corner of state. Geelani expressed his deep anguish and concern over the reported worsening condition of prisoners, saying they are being ill-treated and subjected to mental and physical torture in jails.

He said, “The decision to shift detainees is unconstitutional as according to a ruling by Indian Supreme Court, detainees should be lodged in places where their relatives can easily meet them with ease and without much wastage of time.” Demanding immediate shifting of all detainees to valley, Geelani said these prisoners are not criminals and the treatment meted to them is violation of human rights charter. Paying tributes to all detainees for their commitment and valor ,Syed Ali Geelani said that those lodged in Tihar jail including Shabir Ahmad Shah , Altaf Ahmad Shah ,Ayaz Akbar ,Peer Saif ullah ,Meraj u Din Kalwal, Nayeem Ahmad Khan , Shahid ul Islam , Farooq Ahmad Dar, Shahid Yusuf, Zahoor Watali, Mohd Salem Wani ,Geelani said that they are ill-treated ,saying Masarat Alam Bhat , Dr Mohd Qasim ,Dr Mohd Shafi Sharieti, Dr Gh Mohammad Bhat ,Muzafar Ahmad Dar, Nazir Ahmad Sheikh , Gh Mohd Khan Sopori, Ameer Hamza Shah, Mir Hafiz Ullah, Mohd Yusuf Falahi, Ab Gani Bhat , Mohd Yusuf Lone, Mohd Shaban Dar, Raies Ahmad Mir ,Sarjan Barkati were arrested on fake and fabricated charges, saying their detention is being prolonged on one pretext or the other and PSA slapped one after the other.”

 Srinagar:Dukhtaran-e-Millat spokesperson Riffat Fatima on Tuesday said that the government of India and their local puppets in Kashmir has launched a crackdown on the freedom loving people of Jammu and Kashmir in a bid to break their resolve of seeking Right to Self Determination.

Fatima said that that the Indian oppressors and their puppets were day dreaming by remaining under the wrong impression that arrests and crackdowns on people and leadership is going to break the resolve of freedom loving people.
She said that till the people of Kashmir will not get the Right of Self Determination, they will continue with the fight.
Meanwhile, Fatima said that the incarcerated chairperson of DeM Asiya Andrabi, Secretary General Nahida Nasreen, Press Secretary Sofi Fehemeeda and other two girls who were arrested by the puppet Jammu and Kashmir Police last month were today presented in an Islamabad court.
She said that they were driven from Central Jail Srinagar in a vehicle that was not in the condition of travelling.
“Since Asiya Sahiba is an Asthama patient she had to continuously suse inhaler for want of oxygen in the vehicle.”
She said that this is being done deliberately despite the fact the the puppet police knows
Fatima further said that while the puppet Mehbooba is busy in offering greetings of the holy month to people, on the other hand there are no facilities for prisoners in the jails. She said that the inmates are not allowed to buy anything from outside.
She said that the government is trying to corner the inmates while she added that it is not going to break their resolve.
Meanwhile, the incarcerated leaders of DeM who were produced in Islamabad court today have been sent to police remand for ten days.
