Altaf Bukhari chairs meeting to discuss release of funds for procurement of food-grains | KNO

SRINAGAR, MAY 24 (KNO) : Minister for Finance, Labour and Employment, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today chaired a meeting to discuss the release of funds for the procurement of food grains for distribution to the consumers of the state.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Principal Secretary Finance Navin Kumar Chaudhary, Commissioner Secretary FCS&CA, Dr Abdul Rashid, Director Budget, Financial Advisor FCS&CA and other senior officers of the departments. The meeting discussed threadbare the issues regarding the procurement of food grains including rice, wheat and sugar and the allocation of funds for the same. The Minister asked the department to reconcile with the amount required to procure food grains from Food Corporation of India (FCI).

He asked the officials to put their heads together to make a proposal for allocation of funds within two days so that further action with regard to the release of funds is taken. Bukhari urged the officials to expedite the process so that food grains can be procured at earliest and people do not suffer any hardships. He said the government is committed to provide quality food grains to the consumers and urged the officials to take extra care to ensure quality food grains are supplied to the state.
