Past 3 yrs witnessed positive change in common man’s life : Dr Nirmal | KNO

KATHUA MAY 25 (KNO) : Speaker Legislative Assembly, Dr Nirmal Singh today said that the pro-people initiatives and achievements registered by the coalition government during last three years brought positive change in the life of common man.

The Speaker was addressing a public gathering at village Boura of his home constituency Billawar. He said the developmental achievements speak volumes about the endeavours of Central and State governments to usher J&K into new era of prosperity. He said liberal funds are being made available to the executing agencies so that the works are completed within the stipulated time lines.

During the public meeting villagers from Kumri, Kathera, Babera, Fafal, Bhed, Balod, Sufain, Juthana and Boura projected their issues which mainly pertained to repair of existing and construction of new roads, augmentation of PHE and power infra and upgrading of educational infrastructure besides clearing MGNREGA liability. The Speaker assured them that road connectivity of the area will be strengthen in a phased manner and informed that the work on Boura to Mata Bala Sundri road will be started soon at an estimated cost of Rs. 16 Crore. He also sanctioned Rs 15 Lakh out of his CDF for various development works at Boura.

He further directed the District Administration to arrange camps at Boura and other places to sensitize people of various central and state sponsored welfare schemes. The Speaker directed the District Administration to organize camps at remote and far off places to deliver essential services under PSGA like income certificate, PRC, caste certificate and other revenue documents. Listing developmental achievements in his constituency, the Speaker informed the gathering that maximum part of his CDF has been spent on augmentation of PHE infrastructure in areas facings shortage of potable water. He also announced 2 hand pumps at Boura for immediate redressal.

Giving details about road infrastructure, Dr. Nirmal Singh said that upcoming 22 PMGSY roads involving an amounting of Rs. 104 Crore will catapult the connectivity scenario in Billawar. He directed the PMGSY department to connect Juthana Bridge to Boura and nearby villages to enable maximum people to avail the benefit of the connectivity. For early completion of remaining works at Middle School Boura, the Speaker announced to provide funds for execution of pending works out of his CDF.

To acquaint himself of the problems of the people, the Speaker announced that in future he will frame a tour program with night halts at remote villages. “During these meetings I will listen to the issues of locals and try to find on the spot solutions. I will also sensitize them of various welfare schemes launched for their socio-economic uplift” the speaker said. Chief Education Officer, Aruna Sharma, DEPO, BDOs, Engineers and other District Officers were present at the public meeting.
