Srinagar, May 26 (KNO) : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday asked the Hurriyat Conference and Pakistan to respond positively to the offer of talks on Kashmir extended to them by the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. In a statement issued here, PDP general secretary Mansoor Hussain Sohrawadrhy said that the statement of the Home Minister Rajnath Singh in which he expressed readiness to talk to the Hurriyat and Pakistan is of much significance particularly in the backdrop of the series of the Confidence and Peace Building Measures being taken to put lid over violence and bloodshed in the strife torn Jammu and Kashmir.

Mansoor said that it is the high time for the Hurriyat Conference to take maximum benefit out of the offer and initiate a result oriented and meaningful dialogue with the Government of India. “Such a statement must be seen as a golden opportunity for exploring ways and means to end violence and save precious lives from getting lost in the conflict. The ball now is in the court of Hurriyat Conference and all eyes are set on its decision over whether it would want the bloodshed and mayhem to continue or it exhibits absolute political sagacity and astuteness to end the crises sans any further delay,” Mansoor said. He added that onus also lies on Pakistan to hold dialogue with India and stop painting the borders and LOC in Kashmir red.

“Pakistan needs to come out of the shell and talk to India so that we the people of Kashmir could heave a sigh of relief from the vicious cycles of killings, uncertainties and insurmountable predicaments,” Mansoor said. The party general secretary stated further that that dialogue on table is the only solution to the conflicts world over and the outcome of all the struggles is the result oriented dialogue and reconciliation.

“These aspects must be taken into account by the Hurriyat Conference and Pakistan while deciding over the open offer made to them by Union Home Minister for talks on Kashmir,” Mansoor said. PDP General Secretary also said that foundation of PDP was laid upon the principle of restoration of peace and end of enmity between the two countries. He added that the Party ahead of the formation of government sought assurance from the central government over holding talks with Hurriyat and Pakistan for the timely resolution of the long pending Kashmir issue.

“The government of India responding positively to the pleas of the chief minister is a remarkable achievement for the people of Kashmir as the union government isn’t only helping the chief minister to usher a new era of development but is also on the forefront to ensure peaceful solution to Kashmir. " he said. Mansoor said that time has come when irrespective of the party lines, the political groups in Kashmir too need to rise above and play a constructive role in unison so that state's present generation is saved from mayhem and bloodshed.
