Ganderbal police solves murder mystery within 12 hours | KNO

Srinagar, June 03 (KNO) : On 1st of June 2018, Police Station Kheerbawani received a written complaint from one person namely Ghulam Ahmad Khanday son of Late Abdul Rehman Khanday resident of New Colony Shalabaugh wherein he stated that his son namely Mohammad Yousuf Khanday, about 43 years old is missing since 31st of May 2018. In this regard, a missing report was lodged in Police Station Kheerbawani and investigation was started. A special team was established by the SSP Ganderbal Shri Fayaz Ahmad Lone under the supervision of DySP HQRs Ganderbal Shri Ashaq Hussain to trace out the missing person.

On 2nd of June, information was received that a body is lying in the open fields of adjoining areas of village Chundina and Shalabugh. Accordingly, a police party headed by SHO Kheerbawani reached the spot and recovered the body. The body was later identified as Mohammad Yousuf Khanday by his family members. After completion of medico legal formalities, the body was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. In this regard a case FIR number 33/2018 under section 364/302 RPC of PS Kheerbawani was registered and investigation was taken up.

During the course of investigation, a number of suspects were called for questioning. During questioning one suspect namely Mohammad Shafi Magrey son of Mohammad Sideeq Magrey resident of Chundina confessed the crime and revealed a shocking murder mystery which was further corroborated by the technical team of the District. The accused person had a financial dispute with the deceased person. The accused person had borrowed Rs. 80,000 from the deceased person with a promise of paying him back within three months, but has failed to pay him back. The accused person has the information that Mohammad Yousuf Khanday (the deceased) is visiting J&K Bank Branch Chundina on 31st of May 2018. The accused person with a criminal intent has asked the deceased person telephonically to meet him at a predefined location in order to get his money Rs. 80,000 back.

The duo has met at the predefined location. The accused person has handed over his check book to the deceased person and has asked the deceased person to write a check on behalf of the accused person as the accused person is illiterate. The moment deceased person has bowed down to write the check for himself, the accused person has hit his hind brain portion with a large stone, which was already kept there by the accused person. Mohammad Yousuf Khanday son of Ghulam Ahmad Khanday resident of New colony Shalabugh got unconscious. The accused person there after had hit him several times on the head, neck and chest. 

The accused person after getting the confirmation about the death of the deceased person, has took away his ATM card, Aadhar card, Mobile phone, Pan card and cash of rupees 13500 and fled from the spot. The accused person has then boarded a vehicle in Towheed Chowk Ganderbal for Lal Chowk Srinagar. After reaching Lal Chowk, the accused person has boarded another vehicle for Pulwama, where he has abandoned the mobile phone of the deceased in order to mislead the investigation agencies.
