Inaugurates 3 days ICT training workshop for employees

SRINAGAR, JUNE 04 (KNO) : Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Higher Education, Imran Raza Ansari today said that capacity building programs through Information Communication and Technology (ICT) is a way forward to digitization and e-governance.

The Minister said this after inaugurating the 3 days ICT training workshop to impart Information Technology (IT) skills to gazetted and non-gazetted employees of the State, which is being organized by the department of IT in collaboration with NIELIT Srinagar. Secretary IT, Saughat Biswas, Director NIELIT VS Krishnamurti accompanied the Minister besides other officers of the department were also present on the occasion. Speaking to the gathering, the Minister said that such programs are aimed to enhance the performance of employees at the workplace and upgrade their existing skills to work independently.

"These specialized training programs keep you update with the times what is happening around you, besides build confidence and capacity among you," Ansari said. The Minister reiterated that efforts are underway to enhance capabilities at all levels to foster mindset and attitude towards ICT based administration and delivery of services. Later the Minister also inspected the classrooms to inspect the facilities being provided to the students studying there.

He directed the officers of the institute to provide quality education to the students. Keeping in view the digitization of government departments, Secretary IT said that the IT department has taken employees of different departments in phase wise, in the first phase over 60 employees will participate for capacity building and additional batches will be taken afterwards. On the occasion, Director NIELIT through a presentation gave a detailed overview of achievements of the institute, besides its working for creating interactive, interesting programs for several government offices to bring change in government exercises with the purpose to make them more accessible to the people and beneficiaries.
