Asks officers to ensure necessary facilities for devotees during Mela days

SRINAGAR, JUNE 05 (KNO) : Minister for Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation & Reconstruction and Floriculture, Javaid Mustafa Mir today stressed for ensuring appropriate arrangements to be put in place for the smooth conduct of upcoming Kheer Bhawani Mela, so that the devotees do not face any inconvenience. The Minister said this while chairing a meeting with senior officers to review to oversee the arrangements being put in place for the Kheer Bhawani Mela.

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Secretary DMRR Talat Parvez, DC Ganderbal Dr Piyush Singhla, DC Anantnag M Y Malik, DC Kulgam Sajad Hussain, SSP Ganderbal Fayaz Ahmed, RTO Kashmir Khurshid Ahmad Shah, Relief Commissioner J&K M L Raina besides other concerned officers attended the meeting. It was informed in the meeting that the Mela will be celebrated at Tulmulla in Ganderbal, Tikker in Kupwara, Laktipora, Mattan, Vessu in Anantnag, Manzgam, Devsar in Kulgam and at KapalMochan in Shopian district.

The Minister briefly discussed the arrangements to be made by the concerned district administrations including facilities like adequate power, water supply, sanitation, accommodation, availability of essentials, transport, fire tenders, besides medical facilities at the temples where Mela Kheer Bhawani will be celebrated. Divisional Commissioner apprised the Minister that all the concerned Deputy Commissioners and district Police heads have been directed to ensure all necessary arrangements at the places where devotees would be visiting during Mela days. He said that at Tulmulla, a Joint Control Room will be established in the temple premises besides a help desk will also be managed by the district police. DC Ganderbal apprised the meeting that adequate stock of ration and essential commodity has been made available besides all other requisite facilities for the devotees.

The other concerned Deputy Commissioners ensured that every arrangement in this regard would be made available for the convenience of the devotees. SSP Ganderbal while elaborating on security arrangements informed that fool proof security would be provided to the devotees visiting Tullmulla to participate in Mela Kheer Bhawani. He further said that a parking plan has also been made to provide parking facilities to the devotees besides, CCTVs have also been installed.

Relief Commissioner M L Raina apprised the meeting about the arrangements put in place for the devotees who would be travelling from Jammu to valley. He said that JKSRTC buses will be pressed into service and all other necessary arrangements en-route including security, medical facilities, refreshment at halt stations etc. would also be made. The Minister asked all the officers to ensure that a foolproof mechanism is put in place to ensure that the devotees get the requisite necessary facilities for performing religious rituals. He asked Secretary DMRR to remain in touch with the concerned Deputy Commissioners to monitor the activities.
