Srinagar, June 7 (KNO) : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday castigated the Congress leader Sandeep Dixit over opposing the ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that Congress’s duplicity vis-a-vis Kashmir has been exposing the party ruthlessly before the masses. In a statement issued here, PDP General Secretary Mansoor Hussain Sohrawardy said the Congress party has been adopting a dubious role over Jammu and Kashmir and is running with the hare and hunting with the hound. Mansoor termed the statement of Congress leader Sandeep Dixit as unfortunate and condemnable in which he in open opposed the ceasefire decision of the government.

The PDP leader said that such statements besides exposing the party before the public also reveal the vindictive mindset of the Congress for the people of the state who have been yearning for decades to heave a sigh of relief from uncertainty and chaos. He added that not only are the people across the political spectrum welcoming the government decision but there are common masses on the ground who have begun to feel a sense of tranquillity and peace in the state. “Congress must not act as an ostrich and the party would do well if it understands the plethora of hardships the people of the state face due to violence, bloodshed, and mayhem. Congress should look at the positive results being yielded by the ceasefire decision and witness firsthand how the people associated with the tourism have begun to put their lives back on track,” Mansoor said.

The PDP General Secretary stated further that how Congress is trying to hoodwink people of the country and the state in two different ways could be gauged by the fact that which the state leadership of the party is pitching for the ceasefire and welcoming it, the central leadership of the Congress is out to sabotage the process. “However, what the party seems to have forgotten is the fact that the people of the state could no longer be lured or sway away by the mere and hollow slogans.

They have witnessed firsthand the treacherous and deceitful tactics being played out to them in the past,” Mansoor said. He added that the ceasefire decision has brought a positive change on the ground in the state and people here are waiting to witness serious and result-oriented measures for sustainable dialogue and reconciliation being taken by the government. Mansoor further asked the Congress to come clear over its stand on the ceasefire and whether the party in any way wants the betterment in the lives of the already perturbed people of the state.
