Monthly financial assistance to Kashmiri migrants enhanced by 30% | KNO

NEW DELHI, JUN 18 (KNO) : Government of India has increased the monthly cash relief to Kashmiri and Jammu migrants by 30 per cent. Now it will be Rs.3,250 per person, limited to Rs.13,000 per family per month. Earlier, the cash relief given to Kashmiri and Jammu migrants was Rs. 2,500 per person with a limit of Rs.10,000 per family per month since 2015.

To enhance efficiency of disbursement these cash amounts will be transferred to the Bank Accounts of eligible beneficiaries. The entire expenditure will be borne by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and reimbursed to the State Government of Jammu and Kashmir. Repair and renovation of Jagati and Talwara camps, where migrants are currently residing is also underway. The Government of India will reimburse the entire expenses for these works also. Under Prime Minister’s Rehabilitation Package, 2015 the Govt. of India sanctioned 3000 additional State Govt. jobs for Kashmiri migrants.

The State Government of Jammu and Kashmir has already approved 3,000 posts in its 20 Departments and the process of recruitment has started. The entire expenses for employing 3,000 Kashmiri Migrants in State Government Jobs for 10 years will also be reimbursed by the Govt. of India. It may be recalled that these announcements to support the affected migrant families were made by the Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh during his recent visit to Jammu on 8th June 2018.
