Inter-state drug racket busted in Bhaderwah , four held | KNO

BHADERWAH , JUN 18 (KNO) : In what the Jammu and Kashmir Police claims is one of the biggest seizure of narcotics purportedly smuggled in from Kashmir valley in recent years,more than 1 kg each of “high quality” heroin and other drugs were confiscated and an inter-state drug racket busted with the arrest of four in Bhaderwah .Rs 2,49,900 Lakh cash was also seized from the possession of one arrested person , the police said.The Doda police have busted an inter-state narcotics racket.

A special team has arrested four members of the gang and seized more than 1 Kg Herion , 150 Gram Charas, 2 gram Chitta , Rs 2,49,900 Lakh cash and seized a Maruti Breeza Car .Addressing a hurried called press conference SSP Doda Mohd Shabir said , the gang allegedly brought Notorious drug from Kashmir and was to be supplied in Bhadewah and other parts of the Chenab valley . However, the police are yet to ascertain the involvement of the gang in earlier cases of drug trafficking.It was a big achievement for the Bhaderwah police as ganja was to be supplied in various parts of Chenab valley , said SSP Mohd Shabir adding that the police had a tip-off about notorious drug peddlers carrying a huge quantity of Herion like substance , Chitta and Charas crossing the Bhaderwah Chinta road near Jai road . The Police team led by Sub inspector Zaheer Iqbal under the supervision of SDPO Bhaderwah Tusif Ahmed and ASP Bhaderwah Rajinder Singh intercepted their car and confiscated huge quantity of notorious drug from their possession .

Those arrested have been identified as Irshad Ahmed s/o Nazir Ahmed Najar R/o Puneja Bhaderwah , Mehboob Ahmed Butt S/o Din Mohd Butt R/o Puneja , Irshad Tantray s/o Gh Nabi Tantary R/o Anatnag and Nasir Ahmed s/o Abdul Kariem R/o Dheraja Bhaderwah . A FIR 89/2018 under various sections of the NDPS Act has been registered against the four accused , said SSP Doda .The police expect more arrests in Bhaderwah , especially other parts of Doda district , over the next two or three days. SSP said that police is all out against the drug peddlers and shall not spare anyone in this regard.He appealed the people to keep a strict watch on the activities of their wards and inform police wherever needed.
