BJP on Tuesday pulled out of its ruling alliance with the PDP in Jammu and Kashmir. The decision has been taken by BJP party president Amit Shah, Republic TV has learnt, after his meeting with J&K ministers.

The break-up of the alliance that came into power after the J&K Assembly election of 2014, which saw the PDP emerging as the biggest party with 28 seats and the BJP emerging as the second-biggest with 25 seats, comes at a time when faultlines had been apparent for at least a few months. Just before news of the alliance breaking was announced, the J&K Deputy CM had hit out at CM Mehbooba Mufti over her alleged wish for the Ramzan ceasefire to be extended.

BJP district president for Srinagar Arif Raja confirmed to KNO that govt has fallen. Governor's rule is now likely to be imposed on the state.
