Body of a militant was recovered during a search operation in the forest area of Kachama in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Friday. A senior army officer told that a militant body has been recovered by the search party this morning along with an AK-rifle at Tunga Top- the upper belt of Kachama forests.

The officer said that the search operation in the area is still ongoing to trace out the other members of the group. Earlier, sources had said that the group of militants and army's 10 JAK search party had a stand-off late last night at Tunga Top forests.

The exchange of firing continued intermittently till pre-dawn hours today, they said. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara Ambarkar Shriram Dinkar had also confirmed the stand-off and said that the firing has stopped as of now. "The search operation has been launched in the area to find out anybody or to trace out the militant group," he had said.
