Srinagar July 7 (KNO) : The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress (JKPCC) President G.A. Mir today expressed deep shock and grief over the killing of three civilians, including a teenage girl in Kulgam district and described the killings as highly condemnable, disappointing and detrimental to peace initiatives.

Mir also urged upon the people to maintain peace, as the pelting of stones will certainly invite action by the orces leading to the escalation in tension, which won’t be in the interest of peace or safety of people. G.A. Mir said that after the fall of Govt in the State the people heaved a sigh of relief, for the fact, they were feeling betrayed, worst hit of misrule & mis-governance on part of PDP BJP unholy alliance, as they failed people on all fronts after securing votes from them.

Since the day Governor’s Rule was imposed in the State, the level of anger among the people had declined to a largest extent, besides feeling relieved, but the killings happened in Kulgam today will again vitiate the atmosphere in the valley, which is matter of serious concern, not in the interest of peace, G.A.Mir said. Condemning the Kulgam civilian Killings, G.A. Mir said that Forces should have exercised restraint to avoid civilian killings, as that, there were many other options to quell the protestors, but the killings will lead into the further deterioration of the situation, he added and said that Congress Party emphasizes that Govt must put in place strenuous efforts to ensure that bloodshed ends inorder restore confidence among people, Mir said.

JKPCC President while conveying deepest condolences to bereaved families sympathized with them.
