Army Pays Tribute to Slain Soldier | KNO

Srinager saturday, 04 Aug 2018 (KNO) :  Army today paid befitting tribute to Late Sowar (Swr) Vijay Kumar who made the supreme sacrifice during Counter Terrorist operations on 03 Aug 2018 in Sopore district, wherein two terrorists were eliminated. In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen AK Bhatt, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks, paid homage to the martyr on behalf of a proud nation. In a show of solidarity, representatives from other security agencies also joined in to pay their last respects to the martyr.

Late Sowar (Swr) Vijay Kumar sustained bullet injury during the fierce gun battle at Drasu Watargam village of Dangiwacha, Sopore district. He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to the 92 Base Hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The martyr, Sowar (Swr) Vijay Kumar, was 31 years old and had joined the Army in 2004. He belonged to Village Uttaper of Naina Devi Tehsil in Bilaspur District, Himachal Pradesh and is survived by his wife and two sons.

The mortal remains of the martyr were flown for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family of the martyr and remains committed to their dignity and well being.
